B’nai Israel is committed to promote tikkun olam (repairing the world) and gemilut hasadim (acts of kindness) through our variety of social action projects. Our annual Mitzvah Day attracts more than 400 individuals who are eager to make a difference in our local community, but that is only the beginning. Our ongoing collection drives for nonperishable foods, toiletries, diapers, used ink cartridges, cellphones, and more support various local organizations. We also have a direct impact through our work with the Manna Food Center, our brown bag lunch program, visits to area nursing homes, refurbishing houses through Rebuilding Together, the Best Birthday Project, holiday gift programs, and more. We are grateful for relationships with the Jewish Social Service Agency, Jewish Foundation for Group Homes, Interfaith Works, and other direct service providers in the Greater Washington area.
