Join us for an unforgettable few days in the Big Apple! Rising
9th–12th graders are invited to travel to New York City with Rabbi Mitchell Berkowitz for a fun, meaningful, and memory-filled adventure that brings Jewish history, culture, and Broadway magic to life.

•    Guided tour of the historic Eldridge Street Synagogue Museum
•    Immersive experience at the Tenement Museum
•    A spectacular night on Broadway with Wicked
•    Visit to the Jewish Museum and a stroll through Central Park

Who: Rising 9th–12th graders
When: Saturday, November 22 – Monday, November 24, 2025
Where: Departing from Union Station (Washington, DC) by train and staying at Fairfield Inn, Moynihan/Penn Station
Cost: $750 Early Bird (register by June 20, members-only); $895 Regular Price

Special thanks to the Murray and Rose Gotlieb USY/Kadima Scholarship Fund for significantly subsidizing this experience.

The cost of the trip includes the train fare, Metro, hotels, entrance fees and tickets for all experiences, all meals (Sunday breakfast through Monday dinner), and snacks!

High school teens will stay in hotel rooms with up to 4 total people of the same gender. The trip will have a chaperone ratio of 1:6, including Rabbi Berkowitz and other B’nai Israel staff. 

This trip is more than just sightseeing—it’s an opportunity to bond with peers, deepen your Jewish identity, and experience the vibrancy of Jewish life in one of the world's most dynamic cities.

Behavior Code

Rules are necessary for any group activity to be successful. Our goal is to provide a safe, fun and exciting experience for everyone.

1. All participants will be expected to show derekh eretz (common courtesy) to one another at all times. Disrespectful behavior toward staff, speakers, and other participants will not be tolerated.

2. All participants will be at all scheduled activities, and will arrive on time.

3. All food must conform to the standards of B’nai Israel Congregation. Common meals will be fish, vegetarian, or certified kosher.  Our policy is to wait 3 hours between eating meat and milk products.

4. Participants will not use or have any contact with alcoholic beverages, tobacco products, or illegal drugs, nor will they tolerate their use by others. This rule will be strictly enforced, and warnings will not be given. The minimum sanction for this behavior is immediate expulsion from the program (at parental expense).

5. Use of prescription medications is restricted to the individual for whom they were prescribed.

6. The staff reserves the right to search the belongings of any participant as well as the living space any participant inhabits during the course of the event.

7. No one is to leave the program areas at any time without the express permission of the program staff.

8. There will be no visitors, youth or adults, without the permission of the program staff.

9. No participant may be away from his/her room after curfew without the permission of the program staff.

10. Males and females may not be in each other’s room or alone in any unsupervised fashion.
Waiver and Release

I/we, the parent(s) or legal guardian(s) of the child listed above, (Child) a minor under the age of 18 years, consent to Child’s participation in the B’nai Israel Teen New York City Trip and any and all activities related thereto.  I/We, as parent(s) or legal guardian(s) of Child, do hereby, for myself/ourselves, my/our child/children, heirs, executors, administrators, release and forever discharge, and hold harmless B’nai Israel Congregation and Talmud Torah, and all of its officers, directors, board members, employees, volunteers, agents, assigns, and successors from any and all liability, negligence, claims, injuries, demands, actions, or causes of action, costs or expenses, which may in any way arise from Child’s attendance or participation in the above activities.  This Waiver and Release shall include, but is not limited to injuries, whether physical, emotional, or otherwise, and any related medical care; death; disfigurement; or loss of property. 

This Waiver and Release shall be binding upon my/our and my/hour Child’s heirs, administrators, executors, assigns, and legal representatives. 

In the event of an emergency, B’nai Israel will attempt to reach a parent or guardian, however, I hereby give permission to B’nai Israel and its employees and agents to secure medical treatment for my Child. I consent to whatever medical care,  x-ray, examination, anesthetic, surgical, or related care is considered necessary and in the best judgment of the attending medical provider at the hospital or medical facility providing medical care to Child. It is further understood that the undersigned will assume full financial responsibility for any such medical care. 

It is further understood that B’nai Israel does not carry insurance to pay for any medical care provided to my Child in the event of an emergency and that I/we shall be solely responsible. 

I/we expressly agree that this Waiver and Release is intended to be read as broad and inclusive as permitted by the laws of the State of Maryland, and that his Waiver and Release shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the State of Maryland.
