Ben Stein is the most famous economics teacher in America. His comedic role as the droning teacher in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off has been ranked as one of the 50 most famous scenes in movie history. In real life, he is a powerful speaker on economics, politics, education, and history. He is considered one of the great humorists on political economy.

Stein earned a bachelor’s degree with honors in economics from Columbia University, continued his studies at the graduate level at Yale University, and was named valedictorian upon his graduation from Yale Law School. Since then, he has been a poverty lawyer in New Haven, Connecticut; a trade regulation lawyer for the Federal Trade Commission; a speech writer for both Presidents Nixon and Ford; a columnist and editorial writer for The Wall Street Journal; and a college professor of law and economics.

Along with his colleague Phil DeMuth, Stein has co-written or written about 30 books. Most writings have concentrated on investing, with many appearing on The New York Times Best Sellers list. Their book, Yes, You Can Time the Market!, has become a landmark of using price theory for securities market analysis.

Appearing with Jimmy Kimmel, he co-hosted Win Ben Stein’s Money, which won seven Emmys (including best game show host). For several years, Stein wrote a column about economics for The New York Times. Currently, he writes regularly for The American Spectator and NewsMax and appears as a commentator on Fox News, CBS Sunday Morning, and CNN.
