The latke or the hamantashen? Which is the superior Jewish food? A distinguished panel of renowned professionals will delight you with convincing arguments of which specialty they prefer. FRANCIE KRANZBERG, under the tutelage of Sharon Doner (Feldman), Francie spent 11 years doing mitzvot via the Jewish Information and Referral Service. She is now a kosher caterer and is known far and wide for her cheesecakes, but she makes a darn good latke too.
BARRY D. NUSSBAUM retired in 2016 as the Chief Statistician of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. He then served as the President of the American Statistical Association. Recently he has been appointed Adjunct Professor of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Maryland Baltimore County.
JASON SAMENOW is the Washington Post’s weather editor and chief meteorologist for the Capital Weather Gang. He also produces forecasts for WAMU, 88.5. At the University of Virginia, he earned a degree in environmental science. He went on to earn a master’s degree in atmospheric science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2000. From 2000 to September 2010, he worked as a climate change analyst for the federal government. He founded CapitalWeather.com in early 2004, the first professional weather blog on the Internet, which became part of The Post in 2008. Jason is a past chairman of the D.C. Chapter of the American Meteorological Society and earned the Digital Seal of Approval from the National Weather Association.
AVI WEST is Federation’s Senior Education Officer and Master Teacher. Avi integrates accessible and inclusive Judaic content into instructional and identity-building experiences for learners of all ages providing professional development workshops for educators and Jewish life presentations for parents.
