Israel’s National Sports Program
Join the Men’s Club and the Sisterhood for the annual Sports Night Program. This year, our Sports Night showcases representatives of Israel’s National Sports Program and a member of the Israeli National Women’s Softball team. A light dinner will be served.
Arik Kaplan has been an inspiring person in Israel isports for more than 20 years and has been the spearhead of the non-Olympic sports movement. He is the President of AYELET, Israel’s umbrella governing body, supporting multiple teams that have won gold medals at several World Championships.
Ami Baran has been able to bring Israel Women’s Softball to their 2019 peak performance finishing in the top 9 in the European competition. Ami was Israel’s Javelin throwing champion for many years, and Israel’s top Men’s Fast Pitch Softball pitcher.
Tamara Statman, “T” as she is called, graduated from the University of Arizona. She is one of the top players of the Israel Women’s National Softball team since making aliyah in June 2019. The women on the team are soldiers, doctors, businesswomen, students and moms, all equally dedicated to Israel and softball. In the future, Tamara plans to help coach young girls in Israel to achieve their athletic dreams and represent Israel at the highest levels.
Jenna Baverman, a Maryland native, has been a member of Israel’s National Women’s Lacrosse team since 2017 and has competed as one of the youngest members of Team Israel, helping the blue-and-white earn a #6 world ranking. Jenna anchored an Israeli defense that allowed just 7.75 goals per game; she also previously represented Israel at the 2015 U-19 Women’s World Championship.
