Guests are an vital part of all holiday celebrations and even more so on Sukkot. Aramaic for “guests”, ushpizin is the custom of inviting Biblical figures to join our festivities each day and night in the sukkah. Traditionally, these personalities are men (Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Aaron, Joseph, David). Netta Asner, our Congregational Shlicha, offers a modern egalitarian guest list as she discusses “The Female Israeli Ushpizin in my Sukkah”. Who are seven Israeli women she would invite to her sukkah, and why? After the program, lunch will be served at about 11:30 AM.
