In December 2018, I traveled to Israel as part of an environmental mission with CONSERVE, funded by the USDA. Working in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Jericho, Hebron, and elsewhere, I worked with lawyers, social workers, and scientists, to propose policy solutions for water access across borders. As a young Jewish woman who believes in a Jewish state, I use my interests in food and agriculture to think about who I am and where, as a young Jewish person I situate myself in the Middle East conflict.

Kyla Kaplan has been a member of this congregation since she was in preschool. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she was the Vice President of the student government and faced a BDS resolution, Kyla went on to law school at the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law.
