B’nai Israel’s Future — A Partnership Between Our Rabbi and You
Serving as spiritual and pastoral leader, teacher and guide, a rabbi gives focus, vision and vitality to a congregation amid the changing dynamics of every generation.
The Jonathan A. Schnitzer Rabbinic Chair Endowment has been established to honor Rabbi Schnitzer as he nears retirement after almost a generation of dedicated service to B’nai Israel. Its purpose is to secure the financial stability of our congregation by funding the Senior Rabbi position.
Our American Jewish landscape is changing dramatically. Whatever challenges the future holds, the Jonathan A. Schnitzer Rabbinic Chair Endowment will ensure that the position of Senior Rabbi at B’nai Israel will always be an anchor of strength for our congregation. While dues, tuitions and other fundraising endeavors will continue to loom large in sustaining B’nai Israel, there will be an even greater reliance on the income generated by endowments. The Jonathan A. Schnitzer Rabbinic Chair Endowment is therefore a critical component in enabling our congregation to remain vigorous in responding to the many ongoing needs of Jewish life. Together through our commitment to this endeavor, we can achieve so much: the pride in knowing that our synagogue is an outstanding example of fiscal vitality and a pillar of our Washington Jewish community.
The Jonathan A. Schnitzer Rabbinic Chair is a very fitting tribute reflecting Rabbi Schnitzer’s passion for B’nai Israel in many realms. Because we know that you have abiding respect and affection for Rabbi Schnitzer and that you care deeply about B’nai Israel’s destiny, we hope that you will enthusiastically support the Jonathan A. Schnitzer Rabbinic Chair Endowment.
All levels of giving are welcome. Each gift of $25,000 and higher will be recognized as a named endowment within the Jonathan A. Schnitzer Rabbinic Chair Endowment.
