Saturday Youth & Family Programs

We are excited to welcome everyone back for in-person youth and family services this fall! Beginning on September 11, we will have Family Minyan almost every week, with occasional Grade Shabbatot and other special events. Tot Shabbat will also return to its weekly schedule. See the descriptions below for further details.

Gold Kippah Honor Society
Weekly When Family Minyan Meets
10:00-10:15 AM
B’nai Israel’s Gold Kippah Honor Society recognizes students for their proficiency in various prayers. Students mark completion of each prayer with a sticker on their individualized Gold Kippah forms and are awarded at four levels: Blue Kippah , Bronze Kippah , Silver Kippah , and Gold Kippah . In addition to receiving an appropriately colored kippah for each level, students receiving the Gold Kippah have their names inscribed on a plaque in the Goldberg Youth Chapel.

Family Minyan
10:15 AM–11:45 AM
Now offered almost every week, Family Minyan includes spirited prayer, an engaging Torah reading, and lively conversation about the weekly Torah portion. This service is organized by our shlicha, Netta Asner-Minster, who leads it alongside Rabbi Mitchell Berkowitz, and Moshe Ben-Lev, Educational Director.

Tot Shabbat (Ages 5 and under with a parent)
11:00 AM–11:45 AM
Designed for the youngest members of our congregational family, Tot Shabbat meets weekly to sing, learn, and pray together with Tot Shabbat leader, Morah Juliann Goldman. This service will be held outdoors weather-permitting, or indoors with distancing and masks when the weather does not allow us to be outdoors.

Teen Minyan
Selected Saturday Mornings
10:30 AM–11:45 AM
These services are for the post-B’nai Mitzvah teens of B’nai Israel. Our teens help to organize the service and lead it.
