High Holiday Workshop: Artistic Views of the Trials of Abraham with Rabbi Arnie Bender
Tuesday, September 6, 2022 • 10 Elul 5782
12:30 PM - 1:30 PMZoom EventOur sages list 10 trials that Abraham withstood including the expulsion of Hagar and Ishmael from his home and the Binding/Sacrifice of Isaac. If one picture is worth a thousand words, our exploration of selected 17th century artists will really say a lot about the meaning and interpretations of the texts we read on the two days of Rosh Hashanah.
RABBI ARNIE BENDER graduated from the Schechter Institute of Jewish Studies and is the rabbi of Kehilat Yaar Ramot, our sister-congregation in Jerusalem. Arnie made aliyah with his wife and two children in 1984 from Philadelphia where both he and his wife, Carol, earned their Masters degrees at Temple University. Carol and Arnie now have 4 children and 11 grandchildren.
