12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

Most American Jews trace their ancestry to central and eastern Europe, yet the diversity of Jewish life in this country and in our own congregation is much richer. Join us in breakout session on Rosh Hashanah to hear from two of our B'nai Israel family, as they describe their experiences growing up in Jewish communities in Turkey and Mexico.

Rajmiel Odinec, born in Mexico, studied at Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (Mexico), and graduated from UCLA with a BA in Economics. He received his MA in Economics from George Washington University and was elected to the Omicron Delta Epsilon Honor Society in Economics.

Aylin (Roditi) Edelman has been a member of B'nai Israel since 2015. Originally from Turkey, she moved to the United States in 2005. Aylin holds an MD from Dokuz Eylul University in Izmir and worked as a radiologist in Turkey and Bahrain. After moving to the United States, Aylin started a second career as a health information management professional. Aylin is passionate about her family and enjoys cooking, including improvising dishes from different cuisines. She is an active member of the "Vijitas" culture circle, which meets regularly to keep Sephardic culture, traditions, and cuisine alive.
