Pride Shabbat

9:00 AM - 12:00 PMJoin us for a special Shabbat service as we affirm and celebrate our commitment to LGBTQ inclusion.
We will be joined by Rabbi Sarah Meytin who will give the Shabbat morning sermon and will lead a lunch and learn session at 12:30 PM entitled "Gender Identity in Judaism."
Rabbi Sarah Meytin (pronouns: she/her/hers) is deeply connected in our community. Sarah started her career as assistant director of the JCRC of Greater Washington and has worked in Jewish early childhood education since 2009. Additionally, in 2010, Sarah founded Rockville Open House, a safe space for LGBTQ Jewish teens and Allies at the JCC of Greater Washington. This program ceased operation in 2019. Rabbi Meytin has been the Director of the Bender Early Childhood Center at the Bender JCC since 2019. She has a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania and rabbinic smicha from Hebrew Union College. This semester, she is finishing a Master’s Degree in Education from Gratz College. Sarah lives in Silver Spring, MD with her wife, Rachel, and their two teenage children.
