HAZAK
HAZAK is an organization for mature adults sponsored by the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism. The name HAZAK (strong) is an acronym – which stands for Hokhmah (wisdom), Ziknah (maturity), and Kadima (looking ahead).
B’nai Israel’s HAZAK chapter meets monthly—usually on the second Thursday of each month. Members bring dairy brown bag lunches, and B’nai Israel provides beverages and pastries. Past HAZAK programs have included book reviews by Rabbi Matthew Simon; briefings from AIPAC, the Israeli Embassy, and the Montgomery County State’s attorney; an update on the enduring quest for a malaria vaccine by Dr. Stephen Hoffman; and a musical celebration with the Machaya Klezmer Band. We welcome your ideas and always seek new members for the HAZAK steering committee. Looking forward to meeting you!
