Torah Fund

Do you value the training that our clergy and educators received?
Do you value your child’s Jewish education?
Do you value the extra efforts that our clergy and educators have made to provide us with religious and educational enrichment during the pandemic?

This did not happen in a vacuum, but through programs funded by the Torah Fund Campaign of Women’s League for Conservative Judaism, the dedicated philanthropy of Women’s League, its members, and its affiliated sisterhoods in Conservative congregations across North America.

What is Torah Fund?
Torah Fund began in 1942 as a scholarship fund and later merged with another campaign to support undergraduate housing.  Over the years, Torah Fund has evolved and now supports scholarships and programming at five international degree-granting seminaries of higher learning (New York City, NY; Los Angeles, CA; Jerusalem, Israel; Buenos Aires, Argentina; and Potsdam, Germany).  The monies collected help train and educate each generation of rabbis, cantors, scholars, educators, chaplains, campus Jewish leaders and committed lay leaders.

Support Torah Fund 2020–2021
Thousands annually support Torah Fund.  Consider making a commitment to the future of Conservative Judaism by contributing 5781. The current campaign continues through June, 2021.

At this time, electronic donations are requested. Visit https://inspired.jtsa.edu/torahfund and you will be directed how to donate.  Be sure to fill in B’nai Israel Sisterhood so we receive credit towards our annual commitment.

If you must send a check, checks should be made payable to Torah Fund (NOT B’nai Israel or Sisterhood) and mailed to: Sue Taffet, 14402 Nadine Drive, Rockville, MD 20853.

Torah Fund Pin 2020

The theme for this year is B’Yachad, which means together.  The Torah Fund pin is our thank you for contributions of $180 or more.  Wearing this pin signifies the joy of Sisterhood members working together year-round to make important contributions to the Jewish community through their volunteer efforts at synagogues across the United States and Canada.  Our pride in being Jewish shows in everything we do. We are high achievers in our professional and personal lives, and we accomplish even more together!  Each of us is one small nugget of gold, but together our small gifts reflect and refract the light inside us and help each other. (Due to the Coronavirus, the pin is on a delayed distribution.)
